Opposition to the Consciousness Research Act (CAA) in Uttar Pradesh had direct contact with the Popular Front of India (PFI). The ED report found that PFI cords have been linked to the area where the violence against CAA took place. The report claims that over Rs 120 crore was deposited in 73 bank accounts. The money was used to showcase.

According to media reports, ED's investigation revealed that after the CAA passed in Parliament in December, money was sent to several bank accounts in the violent areas of western Uttar Pradesh, Bijnaur, Hapood, Bahraich, Shamli and Dasna. According to the report, about Rs 120 crore was sent to 73 bank accounts. The money was opposed to funding the demonstrations.

The report also revealed that PFI's Kashmir unit also received Rs 1.65 crore. The ED alerted the Home Ministry about this money transaction. The report comes just days after PFI chairman Wasim Ahmed was granted bail last week on charges of violence in UP. Uttar Pradesh police were unable to gather strong evidence against Wasim, however, he described Wasim as the "mastermind" of the violence.
