Mumbai, Jan 29, 2020, Wednesday
Now the Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray's committee, has halted the work after stopping the car-shed of the metro train being constructed in the colony near Goregaon suburb of Mumbai.
After the formation of the state government in Maharashtra in conjunction with the Congress and the NCP, Uddhav immediately stopped the ongoing work in the colony. For this reason it was given that this work is causing huge damage to the environment.
A public interest petition was also filed in the Mumbai High Court to halt the work. The High Court, however, reserved its judgment. Uddhav Thackeray had formed a four-member committee which was tasked with investigating the metro train and other matters related to it.
The committee had given its report and advised the Chief Minister to withdraw his order to halt the ongoing work in the colony.
Accordingly, Uddhav Thackeray withdrew his previous order. With the permission of the Mumbai High Court, 2141 trees were cut from 2,185 in the colony.
