Mukesh's plea filed against Nirbhaya rejected by Supreme Court;

New Delhi, Jan 29, 2020, Wednesday

In 2012, after the president rejected the mercy petition of Mukesh, accused of raping and murdering Nirbhaya, he filed a petition in the Supreme Court interfering with the president's decision.

After the Supreme Court rejected this petition, the hanging of Mukesh Kumar Singh has now been fixed. The Supreme Court has now refused to consider any of his petitions.

The apex court had said that it did not appear to be hasty in any of the decisions that the President made. The decision has been taken only by looking at all the documents.

The Supreme Court had said that the fact that Mukesh was treated badly in jail could not be the basis for his mercy petition.

While making the plea, Mukesh's lawyer argued that the President was hasty in rejecting the mercy petition.
