Manishankar Iyer to be in Pakistan: PM and Home Minister disagree

Lahore / New Delhi Date: January 16, 2020, Thursday

Senior Congress leader Manishankar Iyer was once again at the center of controversy. During a recent visit to Pakistan, he created controversy in Lahore by speaking about India's NRC and NPR.

Iyer said in Lahore that there were differences between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the issue.

Iyer created a new controversy by talking about India's personal affairs in Pakistan. Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan's trusted colleagues were also present at the meeting when Iyer made the statement in Lahore on Monday.

Iyer said that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are the faces of Hindutva but differences between the two about NPA and NCR remain.

Referring to Aiyar's statement, BJP's Uma Bharti said that Iyer was an educated person and knowledgeable leader in foreign affairs. The purpose behind such talks by going to Pakistan is to create unrest and violence in India. What other purpose could there be to communicate India's insights in Lahore? That may be what Iyer himself says.

He said that the Congress was re-creating the situation like the partition of 1947 by creating a rift between Hindus and Muslims.
