Jung of Delhi: Know who has been in the Capital Assembly since 1993 till now

Delhi Assembly elections have already been announced and with this the royal battle to win the Delhi Jung has been bright. The BJP has been struggling to complete the exile for power in Delhi for over a decade, while thus the Aam Aadmi Party has joined in all efforts to regain power and Congress too is preparing to sit on the throne of power again with 15 years of development.

Delhi has held a total of six assembly elections since 1993. Once in this, the Congress has won power, once the Congress, twice and twice.

1. The 1993 Delhi Assembly Election

The first assembly elections in Delhi were held in 1993. Earlier, Delhi was a union territory like Chandigarh where there was no assembly. The BJP won in the first assembly in Delhi. In Delhi's total 70 assembly seats, the BJP won 49 seats with 47.82% of the vote. Congress got 14 seats with 34.48% of the vote. Apart from this, 4 seats went to the Janata Dal and three seats to the Independent.

After the victory of the BJP, the face of victory Madan Lal Khurana became the Chief Minister but on February 26, 1996, he was removed from his position and replaced Saheb Singh Verma. However, on October 12, 1998, the party made Sushma Swaraj the Chief Minister and under the leadership of Sushma, the BJP contested the Delhi Assembly elections in 1998 but the party could not win.

2. The 1998 Delhi Assembly Election

Assembly elections were held for the second time in Delhi in 1998. On this side, Sushma Swaraj was the face of BJP while Sheila Dikshit from Congress. The Delhi election was thus held between two women, in which Shila Dikshit was defeated and in the 1998 elections, the Congress managed to win 52 seats with 47.76% of the total 70 assembly seats. Where the BJP got only 15 seats with 34.02% of the vote, the other three went to the other account. In Delhi, the BJP lost 34 seats while the Congress gained 38 seats. Sheila Dikshit was credited with this victory of Congress, leaving behind the Congress leaders of Delhi, and Sheila Dikshit became the Chief Minister.

3. The 2003 Delhi Assembly Election

The third assembly elections were held in Delhi in 2003 for the third time. The BJP raided Madanlal Khurana against Shila Dikshit but the BJP did not get any success. In the 2003 assembly elections, the Congress managed to win 47 seats with 48.13% of the total 70 assembly seats in Delhi, and the BJP could win only 20 seats with 35.22% of the vote. While others got 3 seats. Shila Dikshit was also credited with this win and became the CM of Delhi again.

4. The 2008 Delhi Assembly Election

Vidhan Sabha elections were held in Delhi on the fourth and Shila Dikshit held a hat trick in this election. BJP waged a victory over Shila Dikshit against Vijay Kumar Malhotra but it was not successful. In 2008, Congress won 43 seats with 40.31% of the vote, while the BJP had to be satisfied with 36.34 seats and 23 seats. With this, Shila Dikshit scored a hat trick and became the Chief Minister.

5. The 2013 Delhi Assembly Election

In this election, the Aam Aadmi Party emerged as the third political party apart from the BJP and the Congress. Arvind Kejriwal, ousted from the Anna Hazare movement, smashed the Congress critics. In the 2013 assembly elections, the BJP managed to win 31 seats with 33% of the total 70 Delhi assembly seats. While the Aam Aadmi Party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, won 28 seats with 29.5% of the vote, the Congress could win only 8 seats with 24.6% of the vote. The Congress supported you from the outside, and Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister, with no party getting a majority in this election. However, Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister a day before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections after being the Chief Minister for 49 days.

6. 2015 Delhi Assembly Election

Assembly elections were held in Delhi on 6th 6th 2015. In this election Kejriwal fell heavily on both the BJP and the Congress. Thus, the Aam Aadmi Party won 67 seats out of Delhi's 70 assembly seats while the BJP could win only three seats. When the Congress got even worse. Congress could not even open an account in Delhi. After the victory in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister.
