Former Congress MLA Asif Muhammad has been summoned by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch for an inquiry into the violence in Jamia Millia on the CAA issue.
Notice was sent to Asif Muhammad under Article 16 of the Indian Penal Code (Indian Criminal Code). Apart from Asif, another minority leader, Ashu Khan, was also fired by the police.
The duo will be questioned about the violence in the New Friends Colony. On the 15th of December last year, the New Friends Colony, Zakir Nagar and Jamia broke out and caused widespread fire. These protests took place against a new law on citizenship that turned violent.
