IS militants terrorize Christian women in 'love jihad': Kerala church claims

Kochi, Ta. January 16, 2020, Thursday

The issue of 'love jihad' is frequently raised in the country by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). However, this time a Catholic church in Kerala has raised the issue of 'love jihad', claiming that a large number of Christian women are being pushed into the Islamic State and terror activities in Kerala.

An association of priests, chaired by Cardinal George Alanchary, has also accused the state government of not taking matters of "love jihad" seriously. The Islamic organization Popular Front of India (PFI) has denied the allegations. On the other hand, the World Hindu Council welcomed the statement of the church calling for a joint struggle on this issue.

The Muslim organization PIF denied its allegations and questioned its timing and urged the church to withdraw the allegations immediately. The PFI said that it would fall into all sections of the uniting society to oppose fascist Hindu organizations.

On the other hand, the World Hindu Council welcomed the church statement. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has called for a joint struggle against 'love jihad' run by Muslim organization in Kerala society. However, the Kerala State Women's Commission has refused to comment on the issue. Neither the police nor the government has responded.

The Siro-Malabar Church said in a statement that Christian women were being killed in Kerala in the name of Love Jihad. Referring to the attacks on Christians all over the world, the church said the killing of Christians in Nigeria on Christmas was heartbreaking.

Love jihad jeopardizes the social peace and communal harmony of Kerala. The fact that Christian women are being targeted for 'love jihad' in Kerala is a reality.

The synagogue cited a police record, saying that of the 21 people recruited into IS, half were Christian and had converted. This event should be eye-opening for the entire society.

There have also been reports that several youths were being used in terror activities through love jihad. Love jihad is not a fantasy. The church demanded immediate action against the culprits involved in love jihad. However, the Muslim organization PFI in Kerala is accused of playing an important role in the cases of love jihad.

State President of PFI Naziruddin Ilamarm claims that after a serious investigation by the state police, a report submitted to the Kerala High Court said that there was no case of love jihad in the state. No Muslim community here resorts to love jihad to increase the population of Muslims. Although he admits that inter-caste marriages are taking place in Kerala, he cannot be named as Love Jihad.
