Tea exporters and plantation companies have been raised in the wake of the tensions that have erupted following the death of Iranian General Qasim Sulaimani in the US airstrikes. It is worth mentioning that most of India's tea is exported to Iran.

Exporters and producers are worried that if the relations between Iran and the United States get worse, the US may impose further sanctions on Iran, which would adversely affect Indian tea exports to Iran.

According to one exporter, stability is essential for trade. The United States is constantly targeting Iran and on the other hand promising revenge on Iran. This has created an atmosphere of tension and fear throughout Asia.

India exported more than 500 million kilograms of tea in Iran from January to November 1. For the first time, the export of Indian tea to Iran has surpassed 50 million kilograms. India exports tea to Iran at an average price of $ 1.8 per kg. Last year, India sold a total of $ 8 million worth of tea in Iran.

A tea producer, who is exporting to Iran, says the situation is getting more complicated now. There is no doubt that Indian Tea Plantation companies will be in trouble if Indian tea exports to Iran are affected at all. However, the Indian Tea Association has said that even if tensions between Iran and the US increase, Indian tea exporters will not be harmed.

He said there was a rupee-real agreement between India and Iran that would protect Iran's business interests. Chinese tea is also being sold in Iran, but its prices are more than double the price of Indian tea, and Indian tea is more popular.
