Gloria hurricanes kill 11 in Spain, five missing: heavy flooding in rivers

Madrid, Ta. January 23, 2020, Thursday

Eleven people were killed, five missing and heavy rains flooded rivers due to a devastating Gloria storm that struck Spain. The standing water was destroyed in the fields due to the floodwaters and most of the fields were cleared, authorities said.

The number of people missing from the Balearic Islands in northeastern Catalonia and the Mediterranean country was likely to increase as the death toll increased. Several vehicles were strained and the debris of the buildings swept through the water, leaving a pile of dirt in the city.

Earlier this week, at least two homeless individuals died due to a sudden drop in temperature. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S સાnchez today visited some of the most striking vistas. He met with rescue and relief teams.

He said that he would allocate more funds for the five regions of the most troubled country. The thunderstorm had been raining in the country for about five days with heavy rains. However, the weather department said the worst time had passed.

The biggest impact was in eastern Catalonia, where on Thursday authorities were assessing the damage as well as reviewing what to do when several rivers were flooded again. Solar, the mayor of the DeltaBre area, demanded more funding for his area and urged authorities to compensate those affected.

Fire fighters and rescue teams had to fight hard in Mallorca, one of Spain's eastern Mediterranean islands. As one person was climbing a mountain, some of the missing squads came out to find him.

One Spanish and one British citizen were still missing. Authorities said they may have been strapped to seawater. Due to the hurricane, power supply was started to supply 10,000 homes in Catalonia. It affected 1.30 lakh students while most of the schools were closed.
