Election Commission banned from campaigning for two BJP leaders making inflammatory statements

New Delhi, Jan 29, 2020, Wednesday

The Election Commission has taken stern action against two BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Pram Singh Verma, who have made inflammatory statements in the campaign for the Delhi Assembly elections.

With immediate effect, the Election Commission has ordered the BJP leaders to be removed from the list of star campaigners. Earlier, BJP candidate Kapil Mishra, who made a catastrophic comment on anti-CAA protests in Shaheenbagh, has also been banned by the Election Commission for two days.

As per the notice given to the Election Commission by the Election Commission, it has ordered the two leaders to stop the campaign.

It is worth mentioning that, during the campaigning in Delhi, Anurag Thakur, Minister of State for Finance and Parliamentarian, had given a statement to the country or the Gadadars. On the other hand, Pravesh Verma compared Shaheenbagh to Kashmir, saying that the protesters would one day sneak into your door and rap your mother and sisters.

Subsequently, Admissions Verma refused to apologize for the statement. Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party had complained to the Election Commission against these two leaders.
