According to years old practice, budget preparation has begun in the Union Ministry of Finance along with Halwa Serum. Officials including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with state level finance minister Anurag Thakur, finance secretary Rajiv Kumar were present.
After Halwa Serum, about 100 employees and officials of the finance department will be closed in the North Block and their contact with the outside world will be cut off until the budget is presented. The rest will be disconnected from the computer and other communications.
According to the tradition of years, halva is considered auspicious to start any good work.
