New delhi date. Wednesday 8 January 2020

The Foreign Office of the Center, in a public notification, told the citizens that it was only compulsory to visit Iraq, otherwise avoiding going to Iraq.

The conflict between Iran and the United States has been going on for the past few days. The US airstrikes last week in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad International Airport, killing Qassim Sulaimani, Iran's top military official, and seven others.

Then tensions between Iran and the United States increased drastically. Iran fired twelve missiles at US military bases in Baghdad as part of a backlash that resulted in civilian casualties in Baghdad. US President Donald Trump, sitting in Washington, was shaking with anger but was not in a position to do anything. The Pentagon issued a statement saying that we were estimating the damage caused by the missile attack on Iran.

Meanwhile, India's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar said in a public appeal that Indian citizens should avoid going to Iraq except for compelling reasons. Do not plan to travel to Iraq until further notice.

However, he made it clear that the staff of the Indian Embassy in Baghdad will be on duty and will continue to work on security concerns. The Indian government was monitoring their security.
