Students, activists and citizens of universities in Delhi marched from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar in support of the ongoing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

At 12.45 pm, students of universities including Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia University and Delhi University started the march by shouting 'Halla Ball', 'Chhatra Ekta Zindabad', 'Jai Bhim' and anti-government slogans.

In March, students came to the cutouts of Babasaheb Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Zakir Hussain, Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Ashfaqullah Khan. The rally proceeded in spite of no police permission.

Women also joined their children in this rally. Meanwhile, Swaraj campaign leader Yogendra Yadav said that the Prime Minister has raised more confusion on the NRC issue. The Prime Minister is saying that there has been no discussion on the NRC issue while the President has made a statement on this.

Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke of bringing the NRC to Parliament. In these circumstances the Prime Minister should clarify that the NRC should not be brought. Former student leader Omar Khalid said that not only the citizens of the country but also the mainstream and political parties are protesting.

In the meantime, the Jamia Teachers' Association has appealed to students and citizens not to be observed as it is a Christmas festival tomorrow. Uttar Pradesh police, on the other hand, have admitted that a young man was killed in a self-defense firing last week. Bijnor SP Biswajit Srivastava said the 22-year-old man was killed in a police firing.
