Uttar Pradesh DGP recommends Home Department ban on Popular Front of India

Lucknow, Ta: 31st December 2019 Tuesday

Uttar Pradesh director general of police OP Singh recommended the state home department to immediately impose a ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI).

OP Singh also alleged that after the earlier central governments banned the Islamic Students' Front of India (SIMI), the mischievous elements of the region joined a new organization called PFI and were providing objectionable literature and explosive material to Muslims across the state.

The Home Department of Uttar Pradesh sent the recommendation to the Center. In such cases, the central government can take appropriate decisions.

Singh said that most of the youths recently arrested for violence against the Citizenship Improvement Act were found to be supporters of PFI. This means that only youths from the restricted area were committing violence under PFI and vandalizing public property.

Earlier, the Yogi government had allowed the police to strictly work because the youths caught in the new anti-law movement in different districts of Uttar Pradesh were PFIs. Police arrested Vasim Ahmed, treasurer Nadeem, district president Ashfaq, etc., who arrested the youths who were involved in the violence, so the police had recommended to the home department of the state to impose an immediate ban on PFI.
