Police have taken stern action following the outbreak of violence in UP amid opposition to the Citizenship Bill.
There was widespread violence in Lucknow and Sambal yesterday. Since then, 17 people, including Samajwadi Party MP Burke and the president of the Samajwadi Party in the district, have been booked in Samal violence.
On the other hand, Article 144 has been implemented in UP. While internet services have been stopped in several districts including Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Muzaffarnagar and Azamgarh.

About 3000 people have been detained in 102 places in UP. Yogi Adityanath has warned that the damage done to public property will be recovered from the confiscation of the property of the rioters.
The UP government has also taken action against inflammatory messages on social media to inform these companies to delete 1786 Twitter messages, 3037 Facebook posts and 38 YouTube posts.
