Tamil Nadu: BJP tweets Pariyar's wife as daughter in a tweet

The tweet made by BJP's Tamil Nadu unit on the occasion of the death anniversary of the Dravidian agitator Ivy Ramswamy Periyar made a fuss as the tweet was misinterpreted as fact.

In 1948, Pariyar, 69, reunited with Maniyammai, 31, who was considered a caretaker because Periyar's wife, Nagammai, had died.

BJP unit in Tamil Nadu tweeted that today is the date of death of Maniyammai's father Periyar. Together, the BJP wrote that we advocate the death of rapists on minors and our goal is to free the society from the perpetrators of POSCO.

The BJP deleted the tweet immediately after its allies Annamadramuk and the PMK filed strong protests against the tweet.
