In Jharkhand, rapes and assassinations, like Delhi's Nirbhaya, came to an extreme. In this case, a CBI court sentenced 23-year-old Rahul Kumar to death for raping and murdering an engineering student.

When the matter came out, there were fierce protests like the Nirbhaya incident. In this case the trial was completed in just one month and sentenced.

It is noteworthy that on December 16, 2016, in Ranchi, the victim's body was found in a nude embankment in a house in her Butti Basti area. When the victim's sister called him, he did not answer, so the matter was approached by neighbors. The investigation report revealed that the victim was raped and later killed.

The incident was also reported in print and media as students in Ranchi took to the streets and increased the pressure on the government with thousands of demonstrations, several colleges joined and the incident was named Ranchi Nirbhaya.

Although it took only 15 months for the CBI to start the investigation, as the state government had recommended the CBI probe in 2017, the central government had issued these CBI probe orders in 2018.

Rahul Raj, a young man who lived in the same area, raped the girl and fled the house after killing her. He had been missing for a long time, but was finally caught. The rap victim has been given justice in this case for three years, though the victim is not in the world at the time of his punishment for his rapist.

The evidence provided by the CBI in Ranchi's court proves that Rahul was the one who raped and later killed him and also set fire to the house. Rahul was also involved in several other offenses.

The matter was very complicated as no evidence came up against it. Initially, the DNA of the accused and the victim was later examined, which proved that Rahul had committed the crime.
