Mumbai: The Uddhav government withdrew Sachin Tendulkar's security

Mumbai, Ta. 25 December 2019, Wednesday

Maharashtra's Uddhav Thackeray government withdrew the X-level security given to cricketer Lord Manata and Bharat Ratna winning cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Uddhav Thackeray, who became Chief Minister, was given a Z-level security and the security of Uddhav's son, Aditya Thackeray, was enhanced. Now Aditya was given Y plus level security and was increased to Z level security.

The security of Anna Hazare, a retired Indian Army employee and renowned social worker, was also enhanced.

The decision was taken in the wake of the Maharashtra State Government's deliberations on the issue of security for high profile people. According to the security given to Sachin earlier, twenty-four hours a police constable was staying with him.

BJP leader Eknath Khadse was earlier also given a police escort with Y category security which has now been withdrawn. Only Y Category Security will remain.

They were now protected by the Y category by removing the Z Plus security granted to the famous lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, known in the case of Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab.
