The Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka has also decided to recover damages from those who have suffered loss to governmental status in opposition to the Citizenship Bill, following the Yogi government of UP.

There were demonstrations in Mangalore on December 19 in Karnataka to protest the citizenship bill. The rioters then attempted to plunder weapons at the northern police station. Due to which the police had to fire. Meanwhile, storms also damaged public property.

Subsequently, Mangalore MP Shobha Karandjal and his colleague City Ravi demanded that, like the UP, storming should be recovered by giving notice to the stormy people.

It is worth mentioning that, the government has initiated the recovery of the damage from the storms in UP and as part of this, notices have been sent to 130 people. They will be charged Rs. 50 lakhs. If they do not pay, their property will be forfeited.
