Emphasizing on diversity, Pranab Mukherjee said, "We have to remember that if we stop listening to the voice of others, democracy will be defeated." India has a population of 1.3 billion people who follow seven major religions and use 122 languages. Thus it remains united under the Constitution. This is India. This identity of India should not be destroyed. We must not allow it to be destroyed. If that happened, then nothing would be known as India.

He also warned that a majority meant that all should go together. One has to keep in mind that the masses reject the party which is in disrepute.
