Foreign Minister refuses to meet American lawmaker who opposes Article 370

New Delhi, December 20, 2019, Friday

The Indian government has once again conveyed a message that the government will take a harsh stand against countries or its leaders who are criticizing the removal of Article 370 from Kashmir.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is currently on a trip to the US and has taken a similar stance against American politicians who have criticized the removal of Article 370 during his visit.

Jayashankar has refused to meet US MP Pramila Jaipal. Because Pramila had criticized India for removing Article 370 from Kashmir. Jayashankar said, "I do not think that people who are able to understand the situation in Jammu and Kashmir should talk to them." That is why he decided not to meet some MPs, including Premila Jaipal. I am ready to meet people who openly want to talk to me about any issues. There is no point in talking to those who have already decided their thinking.

Pramila Jaipal made a proposal in the House of Representatives of America and opposed Article 370. It was said that India should remove the sanctions imposed in Kashmir.

Reacting to Jaipal, the Indian Foreign Minister's decision is a sad decision. India does not want to listen to anyone. Meanwhile, Congress' Shashi Tharoor has criticized Jayashankar's decision.

According to a US newspaper, Pramila was also involved in the delegation of Foreign Minister Jayashankar to meet with his American MPs. Jayashankar demanded that he be excluded from the seat, which was rejected by other American MPs.
