Despite the situation in Assam, the Japanese Prime Minister may not come

Tokyo / New Delhi Ta-13 Dec 2019, Friday

Japanese media reports that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe may cancel his visit to India as violence escalates in Assam and attempts to burn trains.

Violent protests have been taking place in Assam, Tripura and elsewhere for the last two to three days in protest of the Central Government's Citizenship Improvement Act. In Assam, the situation became very worrying. The storms were reached until the trains were burned, and some of the essential services, including the Internet, were shut down.

The Japanese Prime Minister's original program was to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, December 15 in Guwahati, Assam's capital.

But curfew has now been imposed in most parts of Assam and the internet and mobile phone service have been shut down. Military forces have been deployed at various places. By December 22, schools and colleges have been closed. Thousands of people were on the road, breaking the curfew and clashing with police and security forces.

Under these circumstances, the Prime Minister of Japan does not rule out the possibility that his Sunday visit to India could be canceled at present.
