Bangladesh's Foreign Minister and Home Minister cancel India trips

New delhi date. December 12, 2019, Thursday

The citizenship bill in India has been passed in Parliament. While discussing the bill, Union Home Minister Amit Shah's comments about minorities in Bangladesh have been canceled by Foreign Ministers and Home Ministers of his visit to India.

Foreign Minister of Bangladesh That Abdul Momen and Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan canceled their visit to India on Thursday. The three-day visit to Momen was scheduled to begin on Thursday, but he canceled India's visit to Shillong on December 16 due to 'Vijay Day' local events related to Bangladesh's independence struggle. Khan falsified reports of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's alleged mistreatment of minorities in Bangladesh.

However, in this regard, the Foreign Ministry revealed that Momen had sent a message regarding his postponement of his visit to India from December 12 to 14. He attributed local programs to postponement of visits.

In the context of Amit Shah's statement, India has assured Bangladesh that Shah mentioned that religious minorities were being persecuted in Bangladesh not during the current government but during the military regime and previous governments. The citizenship bill will not affect India-Bangladesh relations.
