New Delhi, Dec 5, 2019, Thursday
The CBI's special court on Wednesday sent a diamond trader Nirav Modi, who fled abroad to a billion rupees scam with Punjab National Bank, to declare that if you do not appear in court, you will be declared a fugitive offender.
Apart from Nirav Modi, summonses were also sent to his nearest Nishal Modi and Subhash Parab to appear in the court by January 15. Failure to do so will result in you being declared a fugitive offender.
It is interesting to know that after declaring a fugitive to the court, one can also proceed to attach his property. A special court today could declare Nirav Modi and his associates as fugitives on Thursday. Nirav is currently in London and is being prosecuted by the Indian government challenging the British government's request to send him back to India.
