Whose Government in Maharashtra? The governor now has these four options

New Delhi, November 8, 2019, Friday

It is not yet clear whose government will be formed in Maharashtra. While the two parties of the coalition, which has the highest number of seats, are not ready to bow to the demands of BJP and Shiv Sena, now the Maharashtra Governor has four options left.

According to Constitution expert Subhash Kashyap, the first option is that the governor can make the current CM Devendra Fadnavis the caretaker CM until a new CM is appointed.

Another option is for Governor Koshari to appoint the leader of the largest party, the BJP leader, and order him to prove his majority in the floor test.

The governor can also order the legislature to elect its leader on the floor. A decision can also be made from ballet paper.

In the event of the first three options failing, the Governor may announce the President's rule in Maharashtra.

As per the current situation in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena MLAs have been kept in a five star hotel. No one is willing to compromise to get the post of Shiv Sena Chief Minister while BJP is not ready to give the post of Chief Minister.
