George Holding, an influential member of the Republican Party of the United States, boldly praised India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move to remove Article 370 from Kashmir.

Holding had said in the House that the action taken by PM Modi and the Indian Parliament was necessary. This was needed and appreciated for the long-term stability in the area. The Parliament of India passed a proposal to bring about a change in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and changed the provisions which were hampering the economic development of the state and inciting separatism.

He said that till now, Jammu and Kashmir was ruled under Article 370. This clause may have benefited those who had political reach but thus the public was not getting opportunities to move forward. This clause was helping terrorist organizations in Pakistan to spread terrorism in India. Thereby the people were upset. It was also affecting the economy. Under these circumstances, the Modi government had the option of either keeping the status quo or eliminating Article 370 to take the state on the path of progress.

Holding that Modi had boldly removed Article 370, he said. Because the people of the state deserve to live a better life. Even after the change, people who have been impeding the development of the state are promoting violence there. In Pakistan, terrorist organizations have recently put up posters in Jammu and Kashmir threatening ordinary people to get out and work. All these organizations are still promoting terrorism today. They are also attacking women and children. Recently, terrorists have targeted people and workers involved in the apple trade.

He said that peace and stability are essential for the development of Kashmir. Thus, the common man should feel safe. So that he gets out to work.
