At a meeting of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh held in Chhatarpur, capital New Delhi, it was announced that the National Register of Citizenship (NRC) would be implemented across the country from 2021 onwards. At present, there is a BJP government in the center and in most states with union support.
Representatives of RSS branches across the country, prominent BJP leaders and other fraternal bodies of the RSS were present at the meeting.
The meeting discussed the issue of new demographic policy, the post-370th revocation, Ram Janmabhoomi controversy and programs following the Supreme Court's proposed verdict. The summit ended on Thursday evening. The meeting was also attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP acting president JP Nadda and union general secretary BL Santosh.
A senior leader of the Sangh expressed the opinion of the NRC, explaining that this register is very important for identifying intruders and people living in an illegal country. The real citizens of the country will be traced through this register.
