The Supreme Court has sent it to the Constitutional Bench of seven judges while hearing the reconsideration petitions filed on the issue of entry of women of all ages in Sabarimala.

The decision is made with a 3-2 majority. Now the Lodger Bench, comprising seven Supreme Court judges, will hear the petition. Women of all ages will be admitted to the Sabarimala Temple in Kerala until the judgment of the Larger Bench is reached.

The apex court has also said that a verdict on the practice of circumcising women in the Dawoodi Bohra community will also give Muslim women access to the mosque, entry of eleven to Parsi women who are married to men from other communities. The verdict was given by a bench of five judges comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.

It is worth mentioning that the season of pilgrims who have been walking in Sabarimala temple for two months from 17th November is starting. Kandarru Rajivaru, the chief priest of Sabarimala temple, has said that the hope of the Supreme Court's earlier ruling on the seven-judge bench has been lively. The bench of seven judges will consider the beliefs of the believers. Senior BJP leader BL Santosh has said that today's verdict is in the direction of safeguarding the rights of believers.

Meanwhile, CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury has said that the party's Politburo meetings will be held on November 16 and 17, and that Sabarimala and other recent rulings will be reviewed in detail. Senior Congress leader and former Prime Minister Omen Chandy said the Supreme Court's decision would help protect the beliefs of the devotees.

It is worth mentioning that in the September 28, 2018 judgment, women from 10 to 50 years were also allowed to enter the Sabarimala temple. The Supreme said that the age-old tradition of forbidding women from 10 to 50 years to enter the temple is illegal and unconstitutional. Following the Supreme Court's ruling, 65 airstrikes were made against the ruling after violence broke out in Kerala.
