Telecom companies filed a review petition against AGR's judgment in the Supreme

Telecom companies, including Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, petitioned the Supreme Court seeking a review of the directives issued on the Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR). It is worth mentioning that following the Supreme Court order, telecom companies have to pay Rs 92,000 crore to the telecom department.

On October 24, the Supreme Court upheld the definition of AGR provided by the telecom department and ordered the telecom companies to pay the balance immediately.

According to sources associated with the event, Bharti Airtel has sought in its recent application to review the verdict in the AGR regarding issues including interest, penalties. In a similar review petition, open court hearing is also sought.

As per the apex court order, Airtel has to pay Rs 21,682 crore for license fee, Rs 29,823 crore to Vodafone Idea, Rs 16,456 crore to Reliance Communication, Rs 2098 crore to BSNL and Rs 2537 crore to MTNL.
