Supreme Court's decision on a review petition demanding investigation into corruption in Rafale

New delhi date. November 13, 2019, Thursday

The central government was accused of involvement in a massive scam in the Rafale deal. The matter was filed in the Supreme Court, though the Supreme Court had earlier refused to order any investigation.

Later, a review petition was filed in this matter which is now going to be heard. The Supreme Court will hear its verdict on this review petition on Thursday.

The Supreme Court reserved its verdict on May 10, five months ago. The petition demanding an inquiry into the raffle scandal allegations was made by former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie and lawyer Prashant Bhushan.

The petitioners demanded an inquiry into the matter when Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that there was nothing suspicious about the decision process so the inquiry could not be submitted, the Supreme Court on December 14, 2018 rejected the application.

Subsequently, petitioners filed a review petition in the Supreme Court for reconsideration of their judgment. The Supreme Court reserved the judgment in May on this review petition.

At the same time, the Supreme Court raised some questions on the central government. These questions were raised especially on the technical issues in the Deal which were opposed by the government officials present on the government, saying that the Supreme could not intervene. The Supreme Court will now issue a judgment on the review petition on Thursday.

At the same time, hearing of Rahul Gandhi's statement about Rafael could also lead to a hearing in the Supreme Court. During the campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections, Rafael's controversy grew. Rahul Gandhi said that the Supreme Court has also admitted that the watchman is a thief. Later, against Rahul, BJP leader Meenakshi Lekhi complained that the Supreme Court had contemplated.

When Rahul Gandhi appeared before the court, he apologized differently to the court. The verdict will come up on Thursday. Therefore, all eyes are now on this review petition. Earlier, the Supreme Court had raised some questions on the government, so it is likely that the Supreme Court may have made a different decision in this review petition.
