Sonia Gandhi held an urgent meeting of the Congress

New Delhi, November 21, 2019, Thursday

Congress President Sonia Gandhi's residence was informed that an urgent meeting of the Congress party was being received this morning.

Sources in the Congress had speculated that the issue of whether to join the government with the Shiv Sena and the NCP in the state of Maharashtra was to be discussed at this meeting.

The Shiv Sena's impression is staunchly Hinduist. On the other hand, the Congress image is of the secular party. Two days ago, the leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi, threatening to join the Shiv Sena saying that if you join Shiv Sena, the Muslim candidates will be alienated from you. Similarly, senior Congress leader AK Antony told Sonia that the Shiv Sena is against the South Indians and if we join hands with the Shiv Sena, we will be harmed in South India.

On the other hand, in a letter written by Sonia Gandhi, veteran Congress Muslim leader, mentioned that Shiv Sena supported us in the past when Pratibha Patil was made President and Pranab Mukherjee, so we should form a government with Shiv Sena.

However, Uddhav Thackeray's attempts to meet Sonia Gandhi did not succeed
