The central government on Wednesday announced concessions to telecom companies. At a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, it was decided on Wednesday that telecom companies should be allowed two years on spectrum payment.
All telecom companies will benefit from a total of Rs 42,000 crore, exempted from two-year spectrum payments 2020-21 and 2021-22.
It should be remembered that last week, Vodafone Idea requested the Center to help us or we would have to close our business. If this company closes, about 15,000 employees become idle and other telecom companies may raise call rates as competition in the market decreases.
At a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, it was decided that the payment of installments of payment for spectrum auction should be avoided for the next two years so that the telecom companies could be relieved.
This concession will be available to all telecom companies which means Jio will also benefit.
