Separatists motivate young people to become terrorists

New Delhi, 22nd November 2019, Friday

Referring to the petitions challenging the sanctions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir, Attorney General Venugopal, who is present in the Supreme Court on behalf of the central government, said that the divisional leaders are encouraging Kashmiri youths to become terrorists. Should the central government observe all this silently?

He said that in the last 70 years there have been several incidents of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The previous governments did not take any concrete steps. Separatist leaders received money from Pakistan that they used to provoke Kashmiri youth.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who appeared on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir state government, said that gradually every ban was being lifted. Landline phones were also turned on from September. The use of Article 144 is sufficient in some areas. In addition, most of the sanctions have been lifted.
