Sensex sets new record of 40889: Nifty near the top

The Sensex of the Mumbai stock market closed at a record high of 40931 at the historical high of 40889 at the end of the trading session with the foreign investors taking the funds. While the NSE's Nifty was far from the top level.

Foreign investors have seen continued investment flows in India, with US and China reporting slowdown in the coming months, along with reports of completion of trade deals globally.

The Sensex intraday rose to a record level of 40931.71 on the back of new reports taken by foreign investors as well as large players, including funds, behind these reports. However, the high headline was followed by a slight backlog of profit bookings.

Thus, the Sensex closed 529.82 points higher at the new historic high of 40889.23 at the end of trading. At the NSE, the Nifty also gained 159.35 points to end at 12073.75 at the end of trading after touching a high of intraday 12084 on the fresh take. Thus, the Nifty was also far from its all-time high.

Following the rise in the Sensex, investors' wealth (BSE market cap) today stood at Rs. 1.82 lakh crore with an increase of Rs. 154.55 lakh crore. After favorable reports, foreign investors today raised Rs. 961 crore was taken by the new take. Local organizations, on the other hand, pay Rs. 214 crore had a selling hand.
