SC dismisses demand for major relief, reconsideration to central government on raffle issue

New delhi date. Thursday 14th November 2019

The central government was in great relief when the Supreme Court rejected all the reconsideration petitions on the Rafale issue this morning.

Several others, including senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, on the Rafael plane deal, had appealed to the Supreme Court to reconsider the deal. These people suspected that the deal had caused widespread corruption.

The Supreme Court rejected all the petitions. The Bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice KM Joseph handled the petitions.

The applicants alleged that on the basis of the so-called leaked documents, it was alleged that the Prime Minister's Office had made the deal without trusting the Defense Ministry and it smelled widespread corruption.

A petition was also filed in court regarding the cost of the aircraft. In its previous ruling, the Supreme Court had stated in clear words that without the concrete evidence, the Supreme Court would not accept anything.

Current Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi retires on November 17, two days later. Prior to that he had to take on the responsibility of making some very important decisions.
