No claim on CM position can be permanent: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai, November 1, 2019, Friday

Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray claimed that no party or person could have a permanent claim to the Maharashtra Chief Minister. It doesn't matter if the BJP does not accept our 50-50 demands. I am also in touch with Congress and the NCP.

Uddhav and Shiv Sena demand that Uddhav's son, Aditya Thackeray should be made chief minister. Uddhav had said a few days ago that one day I promised my father that I would install Shiv Senainek as the Chief Minister of the state.

After the BJP won a large majority in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP did not give Shiv Sena a seat in the Maharashtra assembly elections. Since the BJP did not perform as expected in the Assembly polls, the Shiv Sena is now firm and has insisted on a 50-50 demand. As per the announcement made by Uddhav, it is ready to form a government with another party. Until that happens, the BJP is not ready to smash it but it is also unwilling to drop its insistence that the Chief Minister is the Shiv Sena.

The results of the Assembly elections came last October 24. But the government has not yet been formed in the state of Maharashtra as the Shiv Sena is not ready to give up.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut recently met NCP's Sharad Pawar and later claimed that I was also meeting leaders of other parties. If the BJP does not accept our demand, we are ready to form a government with other parties.

Uddhav also claimed that in my meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis before the Lok Sabha elections, a decision on the formula of 50-50 was made. How can the BJP refuse to implement that decision today?
