Shortly after the polls began, Naxalites were struck and started to sabotage. A bridge in Gumla area was demolished at the Vishnupur assembly seat. There were no reports of casualties or injuries.

Observers believe that what happened in Maharashtra is unlikely to affect the voters in the area. There are 189 candidates for a total of 13 assembly seats in six districts which are considered Naxalite areas. The maximum number of candidates is 28 in Bhavanathpur district. Today 37 lakh 83 thousand 55 voters will vote.
