I promise nothing to withdraw the duty on Chinese goods: Trump

(PTI) Washington, Ta. November 9, 2019, Saturday

I have not spoken about the return of duty on Chinese goods, US President Donald Trump said in a statement. Trump's statement has shocked the prospect of ending a trade war between the US and China.

Amid reports that talks are going well, Trump's remarks have falsified Beijing's claim that he said the two countries will reduce their duty on each other's goods as the talks move forward.

China's claim has had a profound impact on global markets. However, there will be uncertainty in global markets once Trump is denied the possibility of reducing duty.

Trump told reporters outside the White House that China could reduce the duty on certain US items, but I have made no promises. China will also reduce the duty on some items and not on all things.

It is worth mentioning that China earlier this week said that both countries have agreed to reduce the duty to some extent. Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesman Gao Feng announced that the negotiators were ready to reduce the duty in a phased manner.

In the last one year, the US and China have imposed duties on each other's billions of dollars. As of December 15, the United States has announced that it has dodged China's additional $ 160 billion in assets. Trump has also said Beijing is keen to reach a trade agreement because it is suffering a great deal.

Relations between US and India are very good, many things will be accomplished: Trump

America has very good relations with India and many things are taking shape between the two countries, US President Trump said today. Accepting Prime Minister Modi's invitation to come to India, Trump said he would visit India at any time. We work with India on several fronts.

"We have good relations with India," he told reporters in the White House's South Lawn in response to a question about how much progress had been made in trade relations with India. At a meeting with Modi in September, Trump said the two countries were doing a lot of work on trade agreements.

Officials from India and the US said the work was progressing and agreement was expected by the end of the year. "We are working with India in many areas," he said without giving any further details. "PM Modi is a very good friend of mine," Trump said, referring to September's historic Howdy Modi event.

In an extraordinary decision, Trump traveled to Houston to meet Modi, addressing more than 50,000 Indians.
