(PTI) New Delhi. November 15, 2019, Friday

The Railway Board had decided to increase the food prices in the capital, Shatabdi and Duronto trains, and the passengers would now have to pay some extra money, a government letter said.

According to the new order, commuters will now have to pay Rs 35 for a cup of tea after raising the price of tea by Rs 6 in the first class AC and executive category. Similarly, for breakfast, seven rupees will be added to Rs.140 and for lunch and dinner Rs.

So the price of tea in Second Class AC, Three Class AC and Cherkar will be Rs 20, breakfast price Rs.105 and for lunch and dinner, the total will have to pay Rs 185.

Thus, passengers traveling in the railway will have to spend a few extra bucks to satisfy their hunger, a list issued by the Railway Board revealed. In addition to another order, regional breakfast was also added to the menu. For the 350 grams snack mill, including GST, you have to pay fifty.

"The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will provide passengers with a new food option in such a way that their quality and size are in line with the increased charge and their benefit will not go to the service provider," the Railway order said.

The decision was taken after the Railway Board reviewed the pre-paid tariffs and menus of the capital, centennial and Duronto trains in view of the menu and tariff committee recommendations for the meals provided in the mail or express trains and the request from the IRCTC.
