Curtain on nine cases involving 70 thousand crores in irrigation scam

Mumbai, Ta. November 25, 2019, Monday

Just two days after joining BJP in Maharashtra, relief has come in the irrigation scandal against CPI leader Ajit Power. In the irrigation scam, some cases of investigation level against them have been closed. Earlier, the report said that cases against Ajit Pawar have been closed in irrigation scam.

Now, the ACB's Amravati division has ordered the closure of some of the irrigation scam files. An order has been issued to the media regarding the closure of nine project related files and the signature of Bipin Kumar Singh. These include the chapters of Vashim, Yavatmal, Amravati, Buldhana districts under Vidarbha Day Vikas Mahamandal.

The file closes with clarification that if the government or court gives a directive or directive in the future, it may be re-examined if necessary. The letter was sent from the office of the ACB Director General of Mumbai to the Amravati Police Superintendent today.

This chapter, however, clarifies that the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has stated that the case is routine. Some of these are criminal activity and some are departmental cases. Some of the investigations are level. No one was given a clean chit. We have over 3000 cases of irrigation scam cases. The investigation was to be closed for three months. That's why we've closed it now.

About 3,000 tenders were under investigation in irrigation scam. Due to lack of evidence many cases were not reported in routine non-state cases. The ACB was to show progress in these cases on November 28.

Hence, in some routine cases, a closure report has been filed and subsequently submitted to the High Court. However, the case against Ajit Pawar and other political leaders is still ongoing, ACB Director General Parambir Singh told a media. The irrigation scam of the state was Rs. 70 thousand crore and this is a scandal over alleged irregularities in approving and implementing irrigation schemes during the Congress-NCP regime.

What are the charges against Ajit Pawar?

* To apply for irrigation project in Maharashtra before getting technical approval.

* Violation of the process by using a position when awarding a contract.

* Request for tenders from an unqualified contractor.

* Funding of the project and raising quality work.

Fadnavis himself took two oxen before the committee and took the evidence

Madhav Chitel, who was appointed to investigate the irrigation scam in 2013, handed over the committee's 14,000-page testimony to the committee. Fadnavis and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Vinod Tawde met Madhav Chitale at his office in Aurangabad and the document was handed over. Interestingly, this document was loaded into four bullocks. At that time, Fadnavis said, "We demand that the Chitale Committee investigate the case and bring it to the truth. The evidence we present is sufficient. Not only the officer but the minister is responsible for the scandal.
