CRPF lacks sufficient battalion to protect the Gandhi family

New delhi date. November 19, 2019, Tuesday

The government has removed the SPG protection which was provided to the Gandhi family including senior Congress leaders Rahul and Sonia Gandhi and now the CRPF has been entrusted with the responsibility of protecting the family.

In the meantime, the CRPF has informed the state and the Union Territories about the new protocol that has been implemented. Which includes raising a battalion for security and a bullet proof cart.

The CRPF has also instructed the state governments that the Advanced Security License (ASL) protocol has also been given to the Gandhi family. Also included are Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, Priyanka Gandhi, Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan.

These leaders will also need secret, police and administrative machinery before they go to their areas during their private or private tours. Manmohan Singh and his wife's SPG security were also removed in August.

CRPF officials said that the CRPF team will arrive 24 hours before the site where these leaders are due to arrive and will conduct a thorough investigation of the entire area. Together with the local authorities, the VVIPO will conduct a thorough investigation of the visitation schedule.

A senior official said that the CRPF will now provide security to the Gandhi family in the same way that the SPG had previously provided. There will be no defects in their security.

In addition, the Central Government will also need some more modern weapons and bullet proof vehicles to protect the Gandhi family, which the CRPF has written a letter to. There is also the possibility that SPG vehicles may be used for this.

So far, this protection was provided by SPG. The CRPF, which has three lakh passengers, currently has the responsibility of protecting 57 VVIP persons in the country. As a result, the CRPF is now demanding an increase of two battalions in whatever battalion it currently has.
