Case of sedition against leaders including Kumaraswamy, Siddaramaiah, G Parmeshwar in Karnataka

A person named Malikarjun has alleged that the former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy leaked information to the JDS and the Congress leaders about the fall of the income tax department in Karnataka when there was a coalition government in Karnataka.

Police have registered a crime following a lower court order. Bengaluru police have arrested former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah besides former Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwar, DK Shiv Kumar and Dinesh Rao have filed a sedition offense against Congress-JDS leaders.

All these opposition leaders are alleged to have informed the media before the income tax department collapsed. The lower court directed the police to prosecute the matter.

Police have since filed a sedition case against all the leaders. On March 27, 2019, these leaders staged a protest against the income tax department's proceedings against the office of the Income Tax Department.

The leaders said that the income tax department acts like an agent of the BJP government. The applicant argued that the issue was clearly a code of conduct and that action was necessary against it.
