We were about to repeal Article 370 in the first term: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, October 14, 2019, Monday

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, "We were about to repeal the 370th Article in the first term (2014 to 2019) but one incident happened that we did not take that step."

However, he did not provide any explanation for the incident. Currently the Maharashtra and Haryana state assembly elections are underway. While the BJP is holding its back on the Jammu and Kashmir issue in both the states, the opposition says these two states have their own separate questions. The BJP is aiming to shift the focus of the people by bringing Kashmir to the center.

Addressing a rally in Haryana, Rajnath Singh said that we were to abolish the 370th clause in the first term from 2014 to 2019 but an incident prevented us from doing so.

In the first term, Rajnath Singh was the Home Minister. Is currently the Minister of Defense. On August 5, the seventh day of the second term, the Central Government canceled the 370th clause giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Rajnath Singh said that whenever an election comes, we said without stealing words that if we get enough majority, we will repeal Article 370th. We have kept our promise.

Many of us asked why you did not repeal Article 370 if you got a majority in 2014. The answer is that we were about to repeal Article 370 in the first term but there was an incident that we did not take this step. However, the Defense Minister did not say anything about the incident.
