US bans all flights to Cuba except Havana

Washington, Ta. October 26, 2019, Saturday

US President Donald Trump's administration has banned US flights to all Cuba cities except Havana. In the circumstances, former US President Barack Obama's initiative to ease relations with Cuba is similar to the Trump administration's decision.

The Cuban government has declared support for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's rule. Under these circumstances, the Trump administration seems to have taken this step with the aim of increasing pressure on the Cuban government to rethink its decision to uphold the rule of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

According to a report released by the US Department of Transportation, they will be banning flights from Central Cuba to Santa Clara in central Cuba, as well as some cities in the eastern region, from December 10th. However, US flights to Havana will continue.

It is said that US sanctions are being imposed following US law prohibiting tourism in Cuba. The number of people who fly from the US for tourism is not yet clear.

It is noteworthy that many US citizens of Cuban origin go by road to visit their relatives living in cities not far from Havana. Under these circumstances, this decision of the United States will become a problem for them.
