Bengaluru, October 31, 2019, Thursday

From the textbooks of Karnataka schools history, it was learned that the present state government of Karnataka was considering canceling all references to Tipu Sultan.

Karnataka currently has a BJP government. Chief Yeddyurappa firmly believes that Tipu Sultan was not a freedom fighter. He said that the history books have misinterpreted. Tipu Sultan has been described as a freedom fighter. Tipu was not a freedom fighter.

Recently, BJP MLA Apachu Rajan also claimed during a conversation with the media that the information presented in history books about Tipu Sultan was false.

In July this year, after taking over Karnataka, Yeddyurappa formally announced the cancellation of the anniversary celebrations of Tipu Sultan. In retaliation, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah claimed that I started celebrating Tipu's birth anniversary because I firmly believe that Tipu was the first freedom fighter to fight the British government. He fought against the British government. We are strongly opposed to the decision of the state government.

Thus now Tipu Sultan was stuck between the Congress and the BJP.
