Thomas Cook was purchased by rival company Hays with staff and shops

London, Ta. October 9, 2019, Wednesday

British travel company Thomas Cooke has filed a bankruptcy filing to buy the closed travel planner's company, along with its rival company Haz Travel, 555 stores. Thus, the jobs of most employees of one of the largest travel planning companies in the world will be safe.

Hays had already hired 421 staff. 'Thomas Cook is a very popular and endearing brand in which very talented staff work. We look forward to working with them, '' said John and Ernie Hehz, founders of an independent travel agent.

"This agreement will allow Haze Travels to purchase a total of 555 stores across Britain, which will allow Thomas Cook's former employees of retail operations to become re-employed," the statement said.

The British government on Monday completed the country's largest peacetime re-establishment process. As a result, Thomas Cook's bankruptcy could bring back 1.40 million British customers trapped overseas.

Less than three weeks ago, a total of six million customers were trapped abroad when Britain's 176-year-old company closed, with 1.40 million returning to Germany. The sudden death of the company put 22,000 jobs around the world at risk.
