The most corrupt officials in Uttar Pradesh are in the revenue department

In Uttar Pradesh, 600 officers were arrested for taking bribes in the last two years. The survey found that the most corrupt officers are coming to the revenue department and the second to the police department.

Talking to media, Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Superintendent Rajiv Malhotra said, "From January to September this year, we had caught 78 cases of bribery in which 40 percent of the cases were from the revenue department alone." Nine police department and eight education department cases were arrested. He said that employees of the Revenue Department were handcuffed for taking bribe from Rs. Two thousand to fifty thousand rupees, which included employees ranging from accountants to taluka officers.

In the police department case, officers from ordinary constables to police inspectors were arrested from Rs 1700 to Rs 40,000. However, in terms of the amount, the largest bribe was four lakh rupees. We were caught holding a bribe of Rs four lakh to an official of the Public Works Department. Similarly, a clerk at the Muzaffarpur district school was charged with accepting two lakh rupees.
