Pakistan threatens FATF blacklist on terrorism

The APG's 228-page detailed report crops up in 39 of 40 criteria for claiming terrorism. Failure

(PTI) Islamabad, October 7, 2019, Monday

A 228-page report by the Asia Pacific Group (APG) claimed that Pakistan was likely to be blacklisted at the next meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Pakistan had earlier graylisted the organization.

The meeting of the Financial Action Task Force, an organization that monitors the Terror Fund and money laundering, will meet next week. The meeting in Paris will seriously consider Pakistan's blacklisting on terrorism.

The Asia Pacific Group (APG) 's annual 228-page report states that Pakistan had been instructed to act on 40 criteria by October last year, but Pakistan did not comply with 39 of the 40 measures against terrorism. It has been reported that Pakistan has not taken any action for the last one year against terrorist organizations including Jamaat-ud-Dawa, al-Qaeda, Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Pakistan, accused of terrorizing terrorist organizations, has been accused of playing a suspected role in providing terrorist terrorism funds. The report said that terrorist organizations raise funds in Pakistan and perform various activities, yet the government sees the silence. Crop. Taking note of this inaction of the government, the APG Group expressed the possibility of taking action.

If Pakistan is blacklisted at the FATF meeting, it will fall to the level of Iran and North Korea. Even if not blacklisted for mercy, the gray list will still be retained.

The significance of being maintained on the gray list is that Pakistan allows all activities to provide financial support to terrorist organizations. Even if the terrorist watchdog keeps the gray list of Pakistan, it is decided that Pakistan will be disappointed in the world.

Pakistan was placed on the gray list by the FATF in June-2018. At that time, it was given 15 months to show the plan of 27 sources. If Pakistan is blacklisted then it will be very difficult to get loans from global organizations like International Monetary Fund.

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the FATF could blacklist Pakistan at any time. After that statement Pakistan objected. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said that Rajnath Singh was politicizing the matter.

Pakistan is also keen on coordinating India's co-operation with Asia Pacific Group. Had questions. Pakistan has expressed resentment at India's criticism of the blacklist as a threat.
