Nitish Kumar's action on water in Patna: 11 notices sent to 11 engineers of Bihar Urban Development Corp.

State Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sent a cause-notice to 11 engineers of Bihar Urban Development Corporation (BIDCO) on the matter of the recent heavy rains and floods in some rivers of Bihar that did not flood the capital city Patna for days.

A special meeting was held at Nitish Kumar's chair on Monday in which the decision was taken. The engineers were asked to answer why the stagnant water in Patna did not flow for days, and some were likely to take drastic action. Talking to reporters after the four-hour meeting, Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar said how many employees were suspended and some were sent with cause notice.

An engineer was replaced immediately. The meeting also discussed how to prepare for such a situation not to be repeated in the future. The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure as to why the dirty water was not filled for days.

Deepak Kumar further said that a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Vikas Commissioner, which included senior officials of almost every department. The committee will investigate and report within a month. The government will then decide who to take and how many steps to take. The disclosure was also sought by two engineers of Patna Nagar Corporation.
