In Madhya Pradesh, Rs. Arrest of three with eight crore blood transfusions

More than 15,000 kilograms of sandalwood worth Rs 8 crore was seized from Madhya Pradesh, officials said today. Three persons were arrested after the seizure.

The Forest Department's Special Taskforce seized 15,500 kilograms of sandalwood last month. The two arrested are originally from Tamil Nadu who were apprehended from Kalaghat in Dhar district, 'the official said.

Another person was arrested from Thiruvallur in Tamil Nadu on the basis of the information provided by the two arrested, he added. "A blood transfusion worth Rs 8 crore was taken from Chennai to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh," he said.

According to the authorities, the accused confessed that they had brought the jatharatha from the protected area of ​​the Tirupati-Tirumala hill range in Andhra Pradesh. This type of blood transfusion is in high demand abroad and is used in the manufacture of drugs, idols and musical instruments.

The three arrested were booked under various sections of the Biological Diversity Act and the Indian Forest Act. Thus, India's most expensive blood transfusion was being sent abroad through smuggling. Some Chandan thieves from southern India smuggled it and sent it abroad.
